How Much Do You Value One Putt?

I was watching the Wyndham Championship this weekend and they interview Scott McCarron. In the interview they asked what he was working on in terms of putting. Scott mentioned he has been using the Aimpoint System to help him with reading the greens. Being curious I googled aimpoint and found www.aimpointgolf.com. Discovered a page called “How Much Is One Putt Per Event Worth”?

Wishing the Best for Amy and Phil Michelson

Earlier today Phil Michelson announced through his management company that his wife Amy has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Phil said he will suspend his playing schedule indefinitely. Phil Michelson has two wins to his credit so far this year at the Northern Trust Open and the CA Championships at Doral. Having been through a breast cancer scare with my wife I wish the best for Amy and Phil.

USA Wins 2008 Ryder Cup

I did not give Team USA much of a hope at winning this year’s Ryder Cup. Team USA did prove me wrong. What really surprised me were the players that were clutch under pressure. And it was not the players you would have expected. It was also a change seeing Team USA play as a team rather than 8 individuals paired together in the foursomes and fourball matches.

Vijay Singh Wins FedEx Cup

With one event to go Vijay Singh will win the 2008 FedEx Cup. After the Deutsche Bank Championship Vijay had collected 120,500 FedEx Cup Playoff points. Since he is playing the BMW Championship the worst point total Vijay will finish with is 122,602, this is assuming a last place finish at The BMW Championship (2102 points) and not playing in The Tour Championship. If Vijay plays the Tour Championship and does withdraw or get disqualified he will gain at least 2000 points for a last place finish.

Ryder Cup 2008 Team USA Captain’s Picks

This morning Paul Azinger completed Team USA’s lineup with his captain’s picks. Last week I predicted who I though would make the team from a list of possible candidates posted on PGA.com. How did my pick and the poll conducted by PGA.com compare to Paul Azinger’s actual picks?

Ryder Cup 2008 European Captain’s Picks

Earlier this week I made a post about who I thought Nick Faldo was going to choose for his two captain’s picks. Unfortunately I had a server issue and lost my database and did not have a back up of that post. I presented four possible choices: Darren Clarke, Colin Montgomerie, Paul Casey, and Ian Poulter. I predicted that Darren Clarke and Paul Casey would be Nick Faldo’s picks. I had a poll at the end of the post where you could have voted who you though he would pick. Most votes going to Darren Clarke (50% of votes), Paul Casey and Colin Montgomerie tied for the next spot (25% of votes), and Ian Poulter did not get a vote.

2008 PGA Championship Recap of Sorts….

Can’t say that I watched the [tag]PGA Championships[/tag] this year. Not that I did not want to but I was in the hospital having surgery. So I did not have a TV near me and even if I did I would not have been coherent enough to understand what was happening. At one point I remembered it was on but it was Saturday afternoon and they were showing the 2000 PGA Championship because there was a weather delay.

Always a Bridesmaid… In Canada at Least

Where you play is there a hole that you can never conquer? How about a golf course that for what ever reason you do not perform as well as you should? How would you feel if your name was Jack Nicklaus, winner of more professional major tournaments than anyone else in the world, and there was one tournament that no matter how hard you tried you could never win that event. The Canadian Open was that tournament for Jack Nicklaus. In the 27 times he played the event he never won but he was runner up 7 times.
