How to Create a Pracitce Station
Many of us tend to get lazy and lose focus while practicing. As a result we take some of the basic fundamentals for granted. To help maintain our focus we can create a [tag]practice station[/tag] to make your practice time more effective and efficient.
Top touring pros use practice stations to check their alignment and set up. The top players in the world realize that many swing flaws are created with improper alignment and set up. They constantly check their aim, alignment, and set up.
To create a simple practice station we need 3 golf clubs. Pick a target on the driving range. Place the first club outside and parallel to the target line. Now place the second club inside and parallel to the target line. This will create a chute, aimed at our target that the club will swing through. The last club will lie between our feet and perpendicular to the club placed inside the target line.
With this practice station we can accurately check the following:
- Alignment - is our body aligned parallel with the target line?
- B[tag]all position[/tag] - is the ball placed too far forward or back in stance?
- [tag]Club Face Angle [/tag]- is our club face square to the target at address?
- [tag]Plane of the swing[/tag] - at the half way point of our back swing does the butt end of the club point between the target and the inside golf club?
- Divot pattern - the direction the divot point tells us our swing path. Does the divot point left, right, or towards the target?
Creating a practice station allows us maintain our focus while practicing. It allows us to become more consistent in our set up position. It allows us to identify and flaws in our set up or swing that can affect our ball flight. Get the most out your practice time and create a practice station.
