Warming Up

Recently visited Mike Petersen’s blog and he has posted a video about warming up prior to teeing off. For most golfers they do not spend enough time, if any, to properly warming up their body. People often do not consider golf a physical activity so they neglect warming up. I have watched Jason Zuback, a three time World Long Drive Champion, practice and he would spend a minimum of 30 minutes warming up. Mike Petersen has also written a free ebook called Fit to a Tee and has also created DVD’s dedicated to golf fitness. So take a couple of minutes and look at Mike’s video.

I’ll be the first to say if ya don’t warm up.. it’s a bad thing. I personally pulled muscles swinging the club before.

True 30 minutes warming is excessive for most people. They would benefit from as little as 5 minutes.

Top level golfers pay more attention to their bodies because if they don’t they are performance suffers and that affects their pay cheque.

If a recreational golfer injures themselves it is not going to affect their income.

Well, this is true… only if the recreational golfer that injures them selves doesn’t move furniture for a living or something like that ;) .. But being flexible is key to most athletic sports :)

The Idea is to warm up… Well different people would have different time lines and vies on that.. But the bottomline is that warm up is essential to get into the groove while on the greens…

great article. I think 15 menutes is enough to warm up for golf player just for health, but it must be consistent. We need to make flexible our leg, hand and finger.
