Stop Slicing Part 2: Inside Swing Path
The second step in eliminating the slice is to swing the club on an inside path. Most slicers have a tendency to swing the club on an outside to inside swing path. To counter balance this tendency, we are going to swing the club extremely inside to out.
Set up so your club is square to the target and your knees, hips, and shoulders are parallel to the target line. From this position we are going to close our stance in an extreme fashion. We are going close the stance by 45 degrees. Our hips, knees, and shoulders will create a 45 degree angle to the target line. Swing the golf club and allow the club to follow our body’s alignment on the down swing. This will create the extreme inside out swing shape. To get the ball to land near the target we will need the proper forearm rotation to close the club face at impact.
Doing this properly you will notice that we are creating a large hook. Once you start hitting a hook, slowly open your stance until it becomes square to the target line. This exercise is training our body to create a more powerful swing by swing inside to out and closing our club face through impact.
